A Dance of Blades: Shadowdance Trilogy, Book 2 ReviewI discovered David through my mother, who felt his books would be right up my alley. The first book I read of his was the first book in the Shadowdance Trilogy, "A Dance of Cloaks". After finishing the book I took to pestering the author for a sequel. "A Dance of Blades", is for me one of the best fantasy books I've read this year. The whole point of reading fiction is to become lost in the story the author puts forth. David achieves this in every book of his, I've had the pleasure to read. While this trilogy can be read on it's own it does tie into his other series. There is still a lot of mystery in David's world to explore, and can't wait to learn more with each book he puts out.
That said, the authors style is dark and gritty. David pulls no punches, and you never know if your favorite character will make it out alive, or end up dying a horrible death.
Pros: A proper sequel, that builds upon the characters presented in the first book.
Streamlined story that avoided some of the confusion in the first novel.
