My Mentor, My Guide: A Handbook for Daddies and Boys for the New Generation (A Boner Book) ReviewAlthough this book is not without merit (Bannon's own experiences are a highlight), I was very disappointed for several reasons. Depending on what you are hoping to get from a book with this title, I share why I was disappointed. (1) Although it is subtitled "A Handbook for Daddies and Boys," the primary intended audience is boys. (2) Bannon writes only about Daddy-boy relationships that include a heavy sexual BDSM dimension. A Daddy-boy relationship need not, however, and he never discusses the variety of Daddy-boy relationships before focusing his discussion on those of the BDSM variety. Indeed, the book would have been strengthened had he begun with an overview of the wide variety of Dominant-submissive relationships, of which his BDSM Daddy-boy style is but one. For those who are interested in some type of Dominant-submissive relationship and want to read an outstanding overview of the many varieties, I highly recommend Partners in Power by Jack Rinella. (3) Finally, the book is in desperate need of a skilled proofreader. Page numbers in the table of contents are inaccurate. Bannon has an irritating penchant for putting quotation marks around terms (imagine a person who repeatedly uses his fingers to make quotation marks in the air when he speaks). Spelling and punctuation errors abound. Sometimes a word is spelled both correctly and incorrectly in the same paragraph! Some spelling errors (e.g., Holey Grail) are groan-inducing.My Mentor, My Guide: A Handbook for Daddies and Boys for the New Generation (A Boner Book) OverviewIn this day and age, it's easy to find sex anywhere without any meaningful bond. It's common and many do it because sex can be so easily separated from love or emotion. It's as if sex has become just a mechanical act in order to get to a climax. In this modern age of technology, you just get on the computer and "Ordering In" so to speak.
