The Maid of Cathay holds the SecretBTW, this is not a science fiction or a fantasy for which Andre Norton is so famous. It is like many of her early works, an adventure story with a young, male protagonist As far as I'm concerned her first true science fiction was Star Man's Son.
I highly recommend this book for Andre Norton fans.
