The Blade's Edge: Forever After: Volume One ReviewTo be quite honest, I'd never read a book like this before... Yet this is a book for exactly that kind of person. It was easy enough to approach, and even easier to pull you in completely. History and myth are mixed with little regard for modern preconceived notions on long standing legends, but that (combined with a roaring good story) is what makes it so fresh. And the worst part is that the further back you trace his myths, the more accurate they are. Zealous Camelot purists beware, deceptively this book accomplished the impossible task of not only getting me to forgive his disregard for how I thought these myths should be, but to forget he'd ever bent them in the first place. That being said, this is not a story of Camelot. It begins there, but the story soon plunges deep into uncharted territory, eventually ending up somewhere in Eastern Europe on a manhunt for Mordred more nefarious than you've ever imagined him to be. It is unique, and yet has roots in stories older than the written word. The main mythologies mentioned are Irish, Welsh, and Arthurian, but has ties that bind it to the Norse and as far back as the Egyptians.
Highly recommended! The Blade's Edge: Forever After: Volume One OverviewTime and telling blur to myth what once was truth, when all the world's legends lived as flesh and blood. An alternate history set in a world not quite our own, Forever After chronicles the quick and the dead. So begins the story of Quin Xavier, a young man who comes of age during the Autumn days of Camelot. The stirrings of an ancient prophecy set in motion events that will change his life forever. A tragic love, the betrayal of fate, a friendship shattered, and a kingdom lost As the Sword of Kings cries out to his heart, can he survive all this in the face of an unimaginable evil?In the first volume of a saga which spans centuries and unites world mythology, witness the cycle of Disaster and Love, Anger and Sorrow, Vengeance and Dust."With the heart of a lover and the cruel grace of a poet, he has intwined old Celtic myth with early Arthurian legend to create a unique story in a style that's all his own."-Terri Lawrence, N.C. Spotlight Review"Never what you expect, Matt Booker takes the cliché by the neck and doesn't hesitate to break it."-Lou Koncor, KCDS.netwww.swordofkings.com
