5 Diamonds I was very excited to have had the opportunity for another author/poet to allow me to review their work. Many people don't understand how personal poetry is concerning sharing it with the world. As poets, we often times pour our hearts and emotions out, in hopes of inspiring others.
Razor Blades Between My Teeth, by Ashanti White is a fantastic collection of poetry/prose written with a dynamic intervention that definitely sends strong messages to the reader. As soon as I started reading her work I immediately developed a respect for her writing style.
Her poetic dialog through each poem was as unique as the subject content. Razor Blades Between My Teeth, was at the forefront of many social issues that normally would be very hard to talk about. But, she does it with an impressive flow and poetic re-enactment.
I was deeply touched by her work entitled "Tomorrow....Nothing." It tells a small story concerning the massacre that happened at Virginia Tech. I was actually living in Virginia at the time this horrible incident occurred, so I could relate to it well. I was moved by her hidden message and rightfully, motivated creativity.
This book is about the raw and uncut truth of the world we live in, and our human experience. Ashanti White, is destine to make her mark on the world if she continues to write with this quality! Bravo!
